Anveo EDI Connect – Moving from OnPrem to UniversalCode app
Starting with Business Central V22 (BC22), Microsoft has changed the .NET framework from 4.8 to 6.0 (source: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/dev-itpro/upgrade/upgrade-technical-upgrade-v14-v22) and since that version we no longer support the Remote Communication Handler and the File Handler codeunits. We decided that we only want to offer the Universal Code (UC) ready solution from that version forward. The old Remote Components (.NET) as well as the direct file system access is not available anymore. The universal code extension is compatible with our cloud offerings and makes a transition easier.
For the transfer of the data from the OnPrem to the UC tables we offer a migration script here, the documentation for that script is on the linked website. In order to use that script you need to have at least Anveo EDI Connect version 5.3.0.8 installed, we cannot offer the script for earlier versions. The script transfers the data on SQL level and moves all data, e.g. setup and protocol data. After the the upgrade you should use the action “Re-Install” from the EDI Setup, in order to have all new functionality available.
Since the UC version is cloud-ready, we offer two options as a replacement for the File Handler and the Remote Communication Handler:
- the “File Exchange Service” (FES), a self-hostable service which is available from the Sharepoint download where EDI Connect can be downloaded. It is availabe free of charge and supports the server-local file system, SMTP, POP3, FTP, FTPs and SFTP.
- the “Managed File Transfer“(MFT), a service hosted on Microsoft Azure by Anveo. It supports AS2, FTP, FTPs, SFTP and the german provider Pranke. It needs to be licensed with a monthly fee of currently 45€, with unlimited number of messages.
